🌿 Lemongrass • 🍐 Pear • 🌸 White Florals • 🎋 Sugarcane • 🧡 Papaya
Intro
A clean, bright washed Ethiopian from Hamasho Village in Sidama Bensa — the purest expression of this high-altitude terroir. Lemongrass and pear give it a crisp, refreshing lift, while white florals, sugarcane and a hint of papaya keep it sweet and elegant. Lovely side by side with the natural and honey lots from the same village.

The Producer
Daye Bensa, a 2022 Ethiopia Cup of Excellence runner-up, works directly with Hamasho's smallholder farmers rather than buying anonymously. The company runs 71 washing stations, 11 dry mills and three farms across Sidama. Past Hamasho lots of the 74158 variety have shown floral, tropical and stone-fruit character — and this washed lot puts that clarity front and centre.
The Process
This lot is Washed:
- 🍒 Ripe cherry selection — Cherries are hand-picked and sorted
- 🔧 Pulping — The skin and fruit are removed
- 💧 Fermentation & washing — Remaining mucilage is broken down and washed away
- ☀️ Raised-bed drying — Dried slowly for a clean, stable bean
The Cup
Lemongrass and juicy pear lead, followed by white florals and a soft sugarcane sweetness. A touch of papaya rounds out the finish. Bright acidity, light body and very low fermentation character — a crisp, transparent cup.
