The Producer
Danche Washing Station is located in Chelbesa, in the Gedeb area of Ethiopia's Gedeo zone, and works with around 400 smallholder farmers growing coffee at 2,000–2,300 metres. DAK has bought several lots from Danche this year because its coffees manage to be expressive and fruity while keeping excellent clarity — and Mango Tango is a perfect example.
The Process
A traditional Natural process:
- 🍒 Ripe cherry selection — Cherries are picked and sorted at peak ripeness
- ☀️ Whole-cherry drying — Dried slowly with the fruit intact, passing sweetness and fruit character to the bean
- 🔧 Hulling — The dried fruit is removed once the beans reach the right moisture level
No extra fermentation stages — just careful handling during drying, which keeps the fruit vivid without turning heavy or boozy.
The Cup
Juicy ripe mango leads, joined by sweet strawberry candy and a zesty mandarin brightness. The cup is tropical and sweet but well defined, with good structure and a clean finish. Lovely as pour-over and great over ice.
