No fuss, just fruit β with a little kick. Booze Cruise is a brand-new 2026 arrival from the historic Aquiares estate on the slopes of Costa Rica's Turrialba volcano. The Producer
Aquiares is one of Costa Rica's best-known coffee estates, where coffee and community have grown side by side for generations. Diego Robelo now runs the farm, continuing his father Alfonso's work while experimenting with new varieties and processing methods. Coffee here grows alongside protected forest, springs and streams on the volcanic slopes of Turrialba.
Centroamericano H1 is a modern hybrid of Sarchimor T-5296 and the rare Sudan Rume β prized for its productivity and leaf-rust resistance, but also for a surprisingly complex cup.
The Process
This lot is an Anaerobic Natural:
- π Ripe cherry selection β Whole cherries harvested at full ripeness
- π§ͺ Anaerobic fermentation β Cherries ferment in an oxygen-limited environment
- βοΈ Whole-cherry drying β Dried with the fruit still intact, as a natural
The controlled fermentation pushes the cup towards darker fruit and gives it that gentle, rum-like warmth.
The Cup
Purple grapes and cherry praline lead with dark, jammy fruit, followed by a rich brown-sugar sweetness. The body is round and smooth, and the finish has a light, pleasant boozy note. Fun, approachable and great in both pour-over and batch brew.
